The 7th continent: this one’s gotta be on the list, right? For anyone who loves travel and adventure, Antarctica is probably the final frontier of travel. For me, it’s no different. However, it is a little more than just the icebergs, the cruise ship, and the penguins.
In business school, I read about Sir Ernest Shackleton and his epic Trans-Antarctic expedition (1914) to attempt traversing the white continent, and I have been fascinated by the story ever since. It is one of the greatest survival stories in the history of mankind. It is also one of the most popular case studies in leadership.
In case you’re wondering, I have no plans of attempting what Sir Ernest Shackleton did but my ideal cruise to Antarctica is the one that retraces his heroic journey. And yes, the icebergs, the cruise ship, and the penguins will be icing on the cake during this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
